National Classic Lightweight Rally

6th 8th May 2011

We arrived at Oakhill College, Whalley, following the signs onto a well prepared camping site ( the ramp up to the field proved a little tricky for some, where we set up for the weekend. Friday evening was spent meeting old and new friends discussing the arrangements for the rides.

Saturday morning proved to be a little damp but not enough to prevent plenty of buying at the cycle jumble stalls where those illusive components were purchased.

At 1-00pm we all congregated outside the college main building for a photo call, then splitting into two groups for the afternoon choice of ride, I decided to go for the longer of the two rides. Heading out to Ribchester for a café break returning by a different rout through Billington then Whalley Abbey and the College.

All gathering in the College Millennium Hall for a communal Fish and Chip supper, finishing off with a choice of cakes. This was followed by a showing of the DVD of the play A Day Out. The group gradually broke up heading of to bed.

Sunday morning broke dry, again we gathered at the main building setting of this time on one ride of about 30 miles, weather this time was fine but a little breeze. The route took us along the west side of Pendale Hill and onto Downham through the lanes and onto the Clarion Hut for the traditional Pint Mug of Tea, and a well earned rest. From there up the hill through Newchurch in Pendle past Sabden Hall, Padiham Heights coming back to Whalley past the Golf Course.

Final refreshments in the Millenium Hall afterwards the members slowly packed up saying our good byes after making sure all the vehicles were safely of the field we finally departed after a really enjoyable weekend.

Thanks to all the organisers We look forward to the next event.
